Rather than just giving you a few tidbits of news, I thought I'd start a new feature rounding up the most interesting bits of board game news from this Thursday. After all, Thursday is when most of the interesting things happen on the App Store.

So we've got new games for you to check out, some updates, and a couple of other bits and bobs that should keep your dice happy and your cards placated.
New games
There are three games worth having a look at this week. First there's Titanfall: Assault [download on iOS / Android]. It's not a traditional board game by any stretch of the imagination, but you're laying down cards in multiplayer battles, and if you're a fan of the likes of Fantasy Flight Games I think it's well worth a look.

Indie games developer Derek Briggs has released Choppy Waters, an endless running game for iOS and Android devices.

The premise for this game made me laugh, it’s so dazzlingly silly and I love it. You play as a swimming cat who has to swim across the underwater depths of the ocean avoiding any obstacles that come your way. As an example of how much cooler this gets, there are walruses with jetpacks and sharks with lasers to unlock later down the line.

The controls of Choppy Waters are pretty simple, you tap to swim and swipe to activate a special ability when the ability bar has reached max, which can include bubbles, jetpacks, portals and lasers to avoid the traps.

It also gets more challenging the worse you play, as losing a life results in you getting slightly larger, and thus making it more difficult to avoid the many hazards littering the ocean. Make sure you’re up for the test to collect all those gold coin treasures as you play. Additionally, Choppy Waters has a leaderboard system where you can challenge your friends to beat your high score.

Derek Briggs created the game after losing their job last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is distributing the game free to play for anyone who might be interested in playing it to pass the time. Any in-app purchases made in-game will also remove adverts.

If you’re interested in checking out Choppy Waters, download it today from the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android. It’s a free to play title containing adverts and in-app purchases.
Are you interested in auto runners? What largeness thinks in Paradise was sawn.CHAPTER 28
If you've ever hid under your duvet from a monster in your bedroom then Go To Bed: Survive the Night will be a familiar experience.

It's a new "bedroom defence" game out now on iOS that involves tapping away shadowy creeps while you quiver yourself to sleep.

Each level is an hour (condensed into seconds) of the night after your mother has sent you to bed.

Your task in each of them is to tap on the hands and ghouls that try to reach the boy at the center.

While tapping maniacally might be a good tactic, it won't be forever, as some demons enjoy being tapped and will lead you to an early Game Over.

There are also light orbs to collect that give you special powers. Spiders can be squished too, and can then be spent on a comforting teddy bear, among other items, in the shop.

Rounded off with its hand-drawn children's book presentation, Go To Bed is a creepy, but not too creepy, treat out just in time for Halloween.

You can purchase it on the App Store for 69p / 99c right now.

Zombies and Guns Mod Zombies and Guns [MOD] V1.1.2 Features:Many lives many patronsthe Zombies and Guns is an arcade game with an isometric view, where you have to survive during a zombie Apocalypse, destroying hordes of the undead. For this you will have an impressive Arsen of weapons, from simple sticks to the rapid-fire machine guns and ample opportunities for character development. The game is made in the style of the Wild West, the expanse of which you'll fight, by the "ordinary" dead, you expect an exciting battle with the bosses."You cannot realise how delighted I am to be here, Mrs. Blythe," he said, looking around him with eager, interested eyes. "I have an odd feeling of coming home. My mother was born and spent her childhood here, you know. She used to talk a great deal to me of her old home. I know the geography of it as well as of the one I lived in, and, of course, she told me the story of the building of the house, and of my grandfather's agonised watch for the Royal William. I had thought that so old a house must have vanished years ago, or I should have come to see it before this."
Miss Cornelia was mistaken. On the morning after the election Captain Jim dropped in at the little house to tell the news. So virulent is the microbe of party politics, even in a peaceable old man, that Captain Jim's cheeks were flushed and his eyes were flashing with all his old-time fire.Updated: Release date adjusted to July 15th at PR request.
I'm happy and more than a little surprised to say that MudRunner of all things will soon be making its way to iOS and Android. Yes, I'm talking about Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive's hardcore off-road trucking sim. And no, it's not a free-to-play spinoff but a fully-fledged, mobile-friendly port of the original release.

This one's found great success on PC, Xbox, and PS4 since launching back in 2017. It was then brought over to Nintendo Switch in 2018, meaning the iOS and Android ports are arriving rather late in the day, though the fact that this is happening at all is still cause for celebration.
